Once a piece of timber is cut it makes it particularly vulnerable to penetration from water, which eventually will rot the timber. This video shows how to quickly treat the cut ends by standing them up in some wood preserver. The capillary action then sucks the preserver up the timber, which then prevents the water from damaging it at a later date.
